DevHouse 5 is on October 2nd at Alpha Lab

DevHouse Pittsburgh 5 is scheduled for Thursday, October 2nd at AlphaLab in the South Side.  It starts at 6pm and goes through midnight.

The space at Alpha Lab is the perfect setting for a DevHouse!  It's Pittsburgh's high-tech incubator which gives seed funding and office space to six companies, twice a year.  They're in their first cycle right now and you'll be able to meet some of the team members of the companies if you come to DevHouse.

Possible Contest

There has been a lot of interest in the possibility of a development contest at DevHouse.  If you have any ideas for a contest that would be fair game (not biased towards certain platforms or languages), please let us know!  Send an email to Sean {at} lyricwiki.org

Carpooling from Oakland?

If you're heading in from Oakland, try to pack your car!  Now that school is back in session, we're anticipating that a decent amount of students might want to come to DevHouse.  If you have a car available or if you need a ride, let us know and we'll make sure to figure something out for you.  Same thing here: send an email to Sean {at} lyricwiki.org

Newsflash

The sixth DevHouse Pittsburgh will be held on December 4th at the Braddock Carnegie Library from 6pm to midnight.  Keeping with our tradition of cool venues, the Carnegie Library in Braddock has the claim to fame that it's the first library built in America by Pittsburgh über-philanthropist Andrew Carnegie.  Now they're bridging the gap from the region's historical roots to our rebirth as a hotbed for innovation by hosting events like DevHouse.

In homage to the unix text-editor, we'll be refering to this DevHouse 6 by roman-numerals: VI.

We need a fresh batch of Lightning Talks - do you have a tech project you've been working on that you could share with other Pittsburgh geeks in about 5 minutes?  Please email sean at lyricwiki.org to volunteer.  We know there are interesting things being developed all over the 'burgh, and we want to hear about them!
